In our media project Anoop plays the role of a young man who is distressed by many things in his life. The background to his character is that he used to have a family but they all deserted him because of his spiralling addiction and problems with drugs. He started with soft and then went on to more hard-core drugs. Until he was offered a specialised that he expected to give him the most incredible high, however this drug changed his whole perspective on reality and changed aspects of his personality, turning him from a helpless drug addict to a psychopath drug addict.
The first character we would Anoop showed similarities to is Noel Clarke (Sam Peel) from Adulthood and Kidulthood. Firstly the costume and props used were very similar. Noel is seen in the films to consistently have his hood up, this gives an impression of a man who is hard and shouldn’t be messed around. The analysis of the hood shows that he is shielding his head or personality from the world. He puts the hood up for protection because it hides his identity, which is the factor about him that will cause him trouble. We used a hoody for Anoop because he shows how cut off from the world Anoop is and how is he isolated from his family and friends.
The iconography of these two characters are very similar Anoop uses a knife to represent how his power and his psychological issues of his personality. This is very similar to Noel Clarke in Kidult hood who, although already a well-known and feared face in London, his power comes from his baseball bat which kills a character in Kidult hood and also in our thriller a girl is killed by the knife yielded by Anoop.
