Our thriller BBFC rating

As a group we decided that the most suitable age limit for our thriller opening would be 15+. There was no need for the rating to be an 18 as there is no explicit context, although some scenes that would not be suitable for viewers under the age of 15 as there is a scene with a dead body and although lethal weapons and a lot of blood.
On the BBFC Classification it states  "Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised", this is appropriate for our Thriller as there is many scenes with weapons like knifes and also scenes in which there is drug use, and although making an effective Thriller to watch we do not promote the uses of drugs or use of weapons.
We hoped that by putting the rating at a rating of only individuals over the age of 15 are able to watch because as a group we thought that people of this age are independent and responsible enough to understand the film is not real and not encouraging any use of weapons or drug use.
Commercially, the 15 certificate suits us well because the 15 - 20 age group is still the major target audience in cinemas. For DVD sales and rentals, we would expect the 15 classification to be retained.
