Pre Production Preliminary

Planning our Prelim filming, we had to show we were able to use a match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule. To do this effectively we planned our Prelim using story boards, this allowed use to know which shot was need were and how to consequently edit the scenes. Whilst doing this we had to keep in mind the audience and for them to realise what was going on, so that it was not misleading.
Our idea for the Preliminary task was titled 'Shotting in Shen', this was based around a drug deal taking place in a school. this would consist of Matt walking down a corridor, to meet and buy drugs off Charlie. Along side each of the sketch we included information about how long, the choice of shot, mise en scene, and location and lighting of each scene. By doing so it saved time when the Prelim was shot.
After creating our storyboards we grouped up with a Year 13, who explained the basics of the camera and tripod, and how to use the camera most effectively for the shots we had planned for. Also showing us how to record and playback the cassette and how to correctly insert the cassette also. This gave us a basic incite into how to use the camera and how to film effectively.
As part of the pre-production task we also viewed some of the previous Years Prelim's, this gave us an understanding of what makes a good Prelim and what makes a poor one. IT enabled us to realise that a tripod is vital in keeping a steady camera so the shots do not look amateurish, this will then enable us to use this understanding in our Thriller.
